A New Phase

Starting this coming week I am starting a new phase in my life, I am going to start working at the Children's Shelter in Tulsa. This is a shelter for children who have just been removed from their homes by either the court, the police, DHS. These children range in age from birth to 17years. When they come in they are normally scared to death and have no idea what is going on. Most of the children think that this place, the shelter, is a huge upgrade from where they have been living, this does not chance the fact that they are scared and that they do not know what to do.

Each child over the age of 5 gets his/her own room, with their own bed and bathroom. Most of these children have never even had their own bed, much-less their own room; so for this this is a HUGE deal. The children continue to go to school, do their daily activities and are of course fed 3 hot meals each day and given 2 snacks as well.


I really feel that this is where the Lord is calling me to be at this time in my life. I cannot wait to begin this adventure and to see what He has planned for me and for these children that He has put in my path.

Day 3... Morning!

We went to the Zoo bright and early, well 10am, this morning. We were trying to beat the heat, but that didn't work too well.

Not sure what we are going to do after our naps...
Tonight it is "Waves of Worship" at Big Splash and I was thinking about going, but not sure!! Depends on what kind of moods we all wake up in!!

Day 2!

Today was a fun day... we went to pre-school this morning.

Kylan loved it! He said he had a blast and asked to come back on Thursday!

Kylan: "Umm, I eat animal carckers there, all my chickenm all, my cheetos, and tell her I eat all my crispy treat!" "Tell her sissy, her umm, her, her, umm, umm, her eat lunch all by herself at school. ...and umm, I'm going again"
Me: No Kylan, we need to ask."
Kylan: "Mommy, can I please go with Miss Sarah on Thursday and not to Amys?"

(He also took almost a 2 hour nap @ pre-school!)

Kynlee loved it too, once she realized that I wasn't leaving her!
(Sister slept 2 1/2 hours!)

After preschool, we went to Wal-Mart to get Kylan a new water bottle since the one we took in his lunch had a hole in it, whoops! And we got a special treat, some SMALL candy!

Then we went to Incredible Pizza!
Meg (my co-teacher @ preschool) and her daughter Sarah joined us.)

We got a "gift" from the manager who was working. We were playing a game (Deal or No Deal) and lost, so we were bummed... but he helped cheer us up with....

...346 tickets!

After we were done at Incredible Pizza, we went across the street to Orange Leaf. It's very similar to Peach Wave. The kiddos LOVED it!!


And wow, Sister went CrAzY!!!

Kylan liked it too!
We also went on a walk around the block when we got home!
Needless to say, we will all sleep good tonight!!

I think we are going to do the ZOO in the morning (early, before it gets too hot) them maybe bowling in the afternoon!

Day 1 with the Schultheis kiddos!

We went bowling this morning. Both of the kiddos LOVED IT.
Oddly enough, Kynlee beat Kylan.

Once he realized this, he started to use the ramp to bowl too!

Kynlee is napping right now and has been for the last 2 hours!
Kylan is laying on the couch watching TV, and has yet to fall asleep!

-We are planning to go to the pool after nap if it's not raining...
If it's raining.... well I haven't thought about that yet!
